28.02.11

At the library:
Girl asleep on a table with two empty plastic bags of some sort of pre-packaged foods beside her. Under one hand, Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma.

Perhaps she was still in the McDonald's section.

Slush!

Seattle is slushy, and my sidewalk was like wading through a slurpy. Seattle schools started 2 hour late, so hooray, teenagers going to high school on the bus this morning! At the bus stop there was a young couple making out. Evidently, I learned between kisses, they'd made a bet that school would be canceled. As it was not, the girl was demanding 5 dollars. If it had been, evidently the boy would have been due a sex act they didn't specify during the loud, long conversation about the rules of the bet. Classy. There were plenty of other people around.

Swanson's Christmas Extravaganza

Swansons Reindeer 1, originally uploaded by l'exterieur.

There were 2 of these, and then a camel and miniature donkey. The camel and donkey looked cold.

Leavenworth Christmas Festival

Leavenworth 9, originally uploaded by l'exterieur.

Need to get a season's worth of Christmas in one afternoon - the Leavenworth Christmas Festival. It was picturesque; it was crowded with tourists; there was schnitzel and sauerkraut. What more is there to say? Oh yeah, there was plenty of snow.

Clear Skies

Golden Gardens 3, originally uploaded by l'exterieur.

Thursday, Friday and Sunday, the Cascades and Olympics were visible around Seattle. We took full advantage and went to the beach at Golden Gardens park on Friday, as well as leisurely drive around town. Lovely.
